With 9 years of experience and over 400 rolls of film hand-developed, I'll share my expertise and passion to help you unlock your own creative potential. But this newsletter is about more than just technical tips! It's a glimpse into my world as a photographer, poet, and car enthusiast.

Fortnightly (with a goal to increase it to weekly!) on a Friday, you'll receive newsletters that touch on topics like:

  • “Through My Viewfinder” - My ongoing FREE newsletter that combines storytelling through creative writing, with a photo adventure in my trusty sidekick - ‘Scorpion’ - my 1991 Nissan GQ Patrol!

  • Exclusive sneak peeks - First looks at rolls of film I have yet to post to Instagram and my portfolio + all the technical details that go into creating my unique style of film photography

  • Behind-the-scenes adventures - Go behind the scenes of my photoshoots and learn about my creative process, from inspiration to execution.

  • Technical tips and tricks - Level up your film photography with advice on shooting, developing, and editing.

I believe in sharing not just my technical skillset generously, but also my own personal journey and lived experiences as a disabled artist who had to tackle it all on their own - I want to be a guiding light so nobody ever feels stranded and isolated on their own creative journey.

So I’m excited to invite you along for the ride and discover the world of film photography through my unique lens! (Plenty of puns included, heh)

My Story

I've been described as an endlessly creative and joyful person with a serious passion for all things 35mm film. I love developing my own film and sharing that knowledge in an accessible way—as if we're best mates and I'm just really bloody excited you're into film too!

As an active member of the Sydney car community, I'm passionate about capturing the energy and passion of the scene. My work has been featured by brands like For The Girls, Fortune, AMMO NYC, Stash, Unmarked—and more recently by photography based companies like C.R. Kennedy Imaging, Zhiyun, and Pentax Australia!

I'm a disabled teaching artist and advocate for true inclusivity in the arts. I'm passionate about the technical side of film—repairing cameras, developing, scanning, editing, and film restoration—and I share my knowledge through free and financially accessible community resources.

Overcoming a secondary spinal injury in 2020 on top of living with pre-existing disabilities, I found immense healing through my creative practice. I'm now creating 35mm Film Workshops designed for accessibility, aiming to assist marginalized folks and educate on the importance of inclusive arts—all while having fun experimenting with film.

I've mastered Cinefilm and have had a lot of interest in my signature 80's glowy look with fabulous RGB lighting and flashy cars—I cannot wait to teach you how to shoot this style!

I'm also a published written and spoken word poet, originating in the Slam Scenes in Narellan and branching out to Wollongong (as well as internationally). I’ve been highly commended by Varuna and had the pleasure to participate in The Writer’s Space.

Ongoing, I’m working on a hybrid novel—a novel that combines my multidisciplinary practices—as I love finding ways to combine my two passions—photography and poetry/memoir—into one big juicy art form!

I’m so excited to have you here, and I cannot wait to show you what’s to come!

xoxo, Josie
